day 075: 2007 Aug 07
Anklyasaurus Aldus spens a great deal of time with his hands above his head. We are not sure why. But it is a fairly, consistent, repeating and reliable, pose. Unrelated to sleeping, my sister sent us a nice package of gifts with a letter the other day. One of the interesting things she noticed was the socialized genderization that is already in place at birth. Apparently in the United States, girls clothes are pink and/or pretty with flowers and hearts. Boys clothes are blue/brown and have trucks, sports paraphernalia or dinosaurs on them. Kristine should write more on the default colors for babies here. We thought we were buying neutral colors before Aldus was born-- green, yellow, pale colors. Apparently those are assumed to be "girls" colors here. Odd how socialization is. At least we know Aldus has a boy dinosaur on his shirt. |
